Tiger Selected for Governor’s School for the Arts

Bardstown High School is proud to announce that one Bardstown High School sophomore has been selected to attend the 2022 Governor’s School for the Arts (GSA) this summer at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky.

Congratulations are in order for Amy Roblero-Perez. Amy was a finalist for both creative writing and drama. She will be attending the program for creative writing.

The GSA Summer Program offers three weeks of intensive instruction in nine artistic disciplines: architecture + design, creative writing, dance, drama, instrumental music, musical theatre, new media, visual art, and vocal music.

Applying to the program is a feat in itself. Acceptance is determined by an initial application and recommendations, followed by a final round of auditions and reviews. This year, out of over 1,100 applications, 512 were selected to participate in the program after showcase their work in person.
Students participating in the program are immersed in a rigorous schedule of daily seminars, master classes, lectures, hands-on workshops and field trips. While each student specializes in one art form, all students participate in structured, interdisciplinary arts experiences designed to familiarize them with the joys and challenges of specialties other than their own. Summer program participants receive full tuition, room and board.

Bardstown City Schools would like to commend this talented and committed young woman for her achievement. We can’t wait to see how this amazing program will impact Amy’s craft.
