Bardstown High School is proud to announce that sophomores Evelyn Riley and Kate Sharp have been selected to attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) State Leadership Seminar. The students were chosen in recognition of their strong academic performance and demonstrated leadership potential.
Since its founding in 1958, the HOBY Leadership Seminar has helped students discover and develop their leadership talents while encouraging them to become ethical and effective leaders. The three-day seminar provides hands-on learning experiences, opportunities to connect with leaders from across the state, and guided reflection to help participants better understand their personal leadership strengths and how to positively influence others.
Following the seminar, HOBY ambassadors are challenged to complete 100 hours of community service within the next year, putting their passion and newly developed leadership skills into action in their communities.
Riley and Sharp will join more than 225 sophomores from across the Commonwealth at Kentucky’s 2026 HOBY Leadership Seminar, scheduled for June 4–7, 2026, at Berea College.
HOBY’s leadership programs are designed to educate, motivate, and activate students by equipping them with the tools needed to turn ideas into meaningful action. Each program reflects the organization’s five core values: Volunteerism, Integrity, Excellence, Diversity, and Community Partnership.
Through its mission to inspire and prepare future leaders for lives of service, innovation, and impact, HOBY empowers young people to dream big, lead with purpose, and make a difference in the world.
