Bardstown High School Welcomes Robin McCoy as New Assistant Principal

Bardstown High School proudly announces Robin McCoy as the new assistant principal, effective July 1, 2024. With a robust background in education and leadership, Ms. McCoy brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the Bardstown High community.

“I am honored to serve as an assistant principal at Bardstown High School. After being away from this area for a few years, joining the Bardstown High School team feels like coming home,” said McCoy. “I look forward to being a Tiger and joining a community of passionate educators and helping students excel every day.”

Over her 19-year career, Ms. McCoy has served in various educational roles, including principal at Marshall County High School, director of community health & engagement, school counselor, and a Spanish teacher at the Nelson County Schools, and a school counseling program coordinator at the Kentucky Department of Education. Her experience spans local and international settings, with a recent position in Guatemala as a Christian Missionary Educator. Ms. McCoy has been instrumental in developing restorative practices, crisis management protocols, and comprehensive school counseling programs.

“Robin brings a wealth of experience to Bardstown High School, having served as an AP Spanish teacher, high school counselor, Department of Education coordinator, and high school principal,” said Dr. Amy Compton, principal at Bardstown High School. “We are thrilled to welcome her and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our school community.”

BHS has two assistant principals. Ms. McCoy will concentrate on enhancing the junior and senior years, ensuring they are both meaningful and memorable by prioritizing expectations and attendance. Additionally, she will collaborate closely with teachers to foster student academic growth.

McCoy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Kentucky and two master’s degrees in Education, specializing in Teaching & Learning and School Counseling, from the University of Louisville. Additionally, she earned a principal certification from the University of the Cumberlands and is currently pursuing a PhD in Curriculum & Instruction from Liberty University.
